What is Beekeeping?

Beekeeping is a very ancient activity having records from Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Greece, in which facts about bee breeding and honey consumption are described. The exploration of this activity has always been done in a very rudimentary way, obtaining honey and wax in small quantities.

Today, with all the knowledge acquired through technological innovations, living with the bee is quite different, its creation is used for the production of honey, bee pollen, propolis, beeswax, royal jelly, apitoxin, cosmetic or for pollination.

Their pollination along with beekeeping has become a primordial action, even if indirectly, for agriculture and food production in the world.

The life of bees has become crucial for the planet, since, in the search for pollen, these insects pollinate crops of fruits, vegetables and grains; playing an important role in the ecosystem also supporting the growth of trees, flowers and other plants, which serve as food and shelter for all animals.

Pollination is responsible for about 80% of plant reproduction, and beekeeping as an essential activity for the balance and sustainability of the environment directly impacts around 1/3 of the food consumed by humanity.
